I'm Chantel, the self taught and still learning would-rather-be-in-the-garden web designer who is really a sort of-writer and a Customer Service Rep. I'm married to my Very Best friend, and we live a happy, crazy life together. God has blessed me beyond measure, and I am the happiest girl in the whole USA. Welcome to my world.

I never meant to be a Web Designer. I didn't learn to use the computer or have email until I was 18. I had dreams of being a teacher, a nurse, a farmer family- just about anything but computer work, and I had no idea of messing with code and pouring over a laptop for hours on end trying to "make it work". But one day, I was initiated by necessity into the world of HTML, CSS, Java and Flash, and once in, I couldn't seem to get out, try as I might. After a while, I just gave in, and stuck with it.

I've never gone to school to learn the trade, but gathered my tools and set in to figure it out, trial and error. I learned that sometimes it is impossible to figure out what you did to make the error, and even more impossible to figure out how you made it go away, and to just be thankful that it did- and keep on studying. I learned a lot just by doing it, and that's still how I learn best. I learned that you can find out about just about anything web design related if you just search google long enough, and can get 10 or maybe even 100 different opinions on the best way to do it the process.

I also learned that, like most things, designing websites can be the most rewarding, and the most utterly annoying kinds of jobs one could find. And in a way, you are an artist, a mind reader, a code breaker and creator, an editor and word twister, and probably just a little bit of a fool to think that it is even worth it. But somehow it is. Somehow.

My main tools are Macromedia (now adobe) Dreamweaver, Help books and documents, for page design and layout, PaintShopPro for basic graphic design and manipulation, and Google.Com when I just can't figure out what ever is going on. I love to browse other neat sites, and try to learn the tricks to what makes it beautiful.

I promote Firefox and Safari (but I don't own a mac. How tragic is that?) and look forward to the day when, for the sake of all of us who dabble with code, Internet Explorer becomes extinct. Until then, I (try to) enjoy the challenge of making sure that IE understands basic code.

I'm currently trying to figure out Java and Flash, and wrap my brain around a little programming in the process.

I believe in honesty and in doing my best in all circumstances, and that God is the one that gives us talents and abilities when we need them- where ordinarily we may be completely lacking.

If you are interested in a design job by me, contact me, and we'll work out a design that fits you.
